Introduction

I've got an open invitation from Creative House (the arts group I'm in) to highlight work I make as I make it and works in progress. I'll try not to abuse that and only post specific requests. For you "housemates", see my blog.

Also, this site is brand new, so it may still seem a bit like a to-do list. I'll keep updating it with actual content. Your requests will affect what I work on next.

Visual Art

Since high school I've concentrated on digital artwork and a little photography. I've been developing software such as itgrapher to explore that area. However, recently someone wanted to see digital images I've made that weren't direct renderings from math. So, here are some examples of my digital work that isn't simply the output of itgrapher. [Requested by folks at Creative House]

Here's a gallery of images I made with itgrapher. TO DO: there' lot's more. Also, update recent images on front page. [Requested by Bob D.]

I announced to Creative House that one of my goals was to learn oil painting. Since then they've been hounding (translation: encouraging) me to work on it. Here are some examples. [Requested by Creative House]

Writing

I'm having a blast with the Creative House Writers' Workshop. We've been doing some great exercises. However, up to now I haven't brought anything I wrote from the outside. I was inspired by the last meeting to write "Blueberries and Truck Tires". [Requested by folks at Creative House]

I've been sharing about the group with an inkling from my Wesleyan days. I owe him descriptions of the other folks in the group. Here are some links where you can find writings by other members of the group:

Music

The big request I get here is to record a CD. It will happen, but don't hold your breath. Hopefully the Creative House Music Workshop will result in some recordings. You can hear some experiments on my virb site. [Requested by Kate E.-T. and many others]

Another request that I've been getting more lately is to introduce more of my songs into the worship at Wellspring. That's also something I want to do soon. [Requested by Jordan D.] Related to that, I've started a database of songsheets of my songs. [Requested by Bob J.]

Driving back from a gig at the East River Park, I shared about how a conversation with Michael Kelly Blanchard challenged me to write a completely honest worship song...no exaggerating about the purity or strength of our desire for God. Click here to read the lyrics. [Requested by Lori S.]

Scratch Recordings

When Kim and I were looking at going to KBC (Kensington Baptist Church, now Wellspring) I took a half day retreat on The Barn property. I wrote this at the end of that time. It was originally for classical guitar and the timing was different. It was a banner song for me as I became part of the music ministry at our new church. Nobody liked it. Then one day at a band rehearsal I was playing it at the piano with a shuffle beat. Mark McKinniss joined in on the drums and we decided to use the song on Sunday morning. It was a hit. When we decided to change the name of the church to Wellspring it became kind of theme song. We sang it at the ground breaking for the new sanctuary. Bill L. requested that I give him a recording and a chord sheet to give to the musicians at his new church down in West Virginia.

Gloria K. sang with us for the 5th Sunday in November, 2008. I showed her the song "Hold On" hoping she would agree to sing it. She liked it so I played some other things to see if she would like to write lyrics for them and sing them too. She asked for these recordings so she can work on them.
